　　“ 初階英文閱讀與寫作練習” is a comprehensive split edition coursebook for students in their f irst year of vocational high school to develop their reading and writing skills. The book includes a broad collection of topics related to social issues, cultural differences, environmental protection, and technological innovation. In “ 初階英文閱讀與寫作練習,” students can use and improve their English skills through readings and exercises that will help them make progress on a daily basis.

　　Each unit has two main readings with different types of texts. For each reading, students are guided through a set of steps: before you read, while you read, and after you read. These help students understand the act of reading in a logical, helpful way.

　　After the two readings in each unit, there is a writing section that teaches grammar points and writing skills. At the end of each unit, students take what they have learned and use it to practice creating sentences that correspond to photographs. Once they have completed this, they will share their sentences, evaluate those of others’, and revise their own sentences. As a f inal task, students are asked to assess how well they did and how much they learned.

　　「初階英文閱讀與寫作練習」共分上下兩冊，每冊三大單元，每單元細分為三個小節，供技術型高級中等學校外語群一年級使用。本書取材包含社會議題、跨文化比較、環境保護以及科技革新等，並貼近學生之日常生活，以期在引發學習興趣的同時，也讓學生針對各種議題探索、思考、分析、判斷、創造，並且能夠更進一步反饋於生活中。

　　本書架構安排以步驟式培養為原則，前兩個小節分別圍繞兩篇閱讀文本發展，以提供學生充足的語料輸入。每篇閱讀文本皆為不同文體，能夠讓學生接觸各式體裁之文章。每個小節依照閱讀前 (Before You Read)、閱讀中 (While You Read) 以及閱讀後 (After You Read) 發展，以符合邏輯之閱讀步驟培養學生在各個階段的閱讀技巧。

　　每個單元的第三小節為寫作練習，以前兩個小節的文本為基礎，介紹文法之應用方式以及寫作技巧，並提供充足的練習以建立完整的概念。針對每個寫作技巧也更進一步介紹常見的寫作問題，讓學生有機會對句子進行觀察並練習校正。每單元最後請學生依照所學，步驟式地創作句子，針對本書提供的圖片進行描寫，並和同儕分享句子以及給予建議，最後修改並完成句子。而在單元的最後一頁則提供學生評量表，以讓學生自我評量學習成果，反思所學。
